The (GUIPRS) is available during the annual higher degree research scholarship application round. The GUIPRS covers tuition fees for the applicant for up to three years for doctoral candidates and up to two years for research masters candidates. the scholarship will cover Overseas Student’s Health Cover (OSHC) for the applicant and any dependant/s for the duration of the scholarship.
Higher degree by research candidates are required to hold a visa for their program length plus an additional eight months to allow for interactive thesis marking. Candidates undertaking a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) will require 57 months of overseas health cover.
Holders of this award will receive cover for the first 42 months of their program and will be required to pay at the time of accepting their offer.
Duration:
The GUIPRS is a full fee paying scholarship and matches the value of the fees charged by the enrolment Element.
The GUIPRS may be held for up to two years for a research masters program and up to three years for a doctoral program. A six month extension may be granted to doctoral candidates in certain circumstances for the completion of degree.

Fee Offset
The award provided by the GUIPRS removes the liability of the awardee to pay program tuition fees during the tenure of the degree.
Overseas Student Health Cover
The award includes the cost of a well standard Overseas Student Health Cover policy which covers the candidate and his / her dependents expenses for up to 42 months.
Eligibility Requirements:
To be eligible for a GUIPRS, a pwraon applying must:
a. not be a domestic student, as defined as being a student who is an Australian citizen;
or a New Zealand citizen; and
b. be commencing or enrolled in a HDR program (for which GUIPRS support is
available) at Griffith University.
A GUIPRS will not be awarded to a candidate who is in receipt of an equivalent award or
scholarship from the Commonwealth Government designed to offset HDR program tuition fee and other expenses.
Notification of Award and Commencement of Study:
Successful candidates will be offered the GUIPRS award through a letter of offer for
scholarship and admission.
Awardees must accept both a place in the HDR program as well as the scholarship/s
offered by the date specified in the offer letter and commence in the program between the
dates specified in this letter. Where exceptional circumstances prevent an awardee from
taking up the award by the date specified in the offer letter, he/she may apply for a delayed
commencement. Full details of the reasons for the request will be required. If a candidate
cannot commence by the approved date the University may withdraw the award.
